OKRA FoodBar emerged during the COVID pandemic, born from a distinctive challenge and a personal journey. The founder, who once had a strong aversion to OKRA, found inspiration during a time of solitude when the military was the sole provider of vegetables to their apartment block. During this period, residents engaged in a delightful exchange of vegetables, sparking a wave of unforeseen culinary innovation. With plenty of time to play around, the founder stumbled upon an enjoyable passion for whipping up scrumptious and nutritious dishes using local, unpretentious ingredients.

In the spirit of tackling challenges head-on, OKRA FoodBar was born, showcasing a vegetable-centric menu that embodies creativity within limitations. The restaurant made its grand debut on December 15th, 2021, launching with a modest menu of six dishes and a trio of committed staff members, featuring our bar manager extraordinaire, and Momma, the indispensable dishwasher, both of whom have been vital since the very beginning. Originally nestled at 10 Thao Dien Street with a cozy 24-seat capacity, OKRA has gracefully upgraded to a more spacious location at 02 Le Van Mien, now welcoming 42 guests with open arms.

OKRA FoodBar has established itself as a culinary gem, showcasing inventive global vegetarian-friendly dishes, all served in a charming, shareable style that encourages social dining. The restaurant has cleverly carved out a niche for itself, appealing to diners aged 25 to 65 and drawing in small groups, romantic dates, and couples alike. It honors the middle class and all generous souls, crafting a dining experience that's as welcoming as it is delightful. With aspirations to evolve into the go-to neighborhood hangout, OKRA FoodBar aims to be a friendly haven where solo patrons can sip a drink, mingle with others, and cultivate new friendships in a lively, community-oriented atmosphere.
